"My ultimate goal is to support and empower others in achieving their utmost potential."
I have nearly 20 years of experience in community and public health nutrition, along with a degree in culinary arts. My expertise is in community-based research and includes health literacy, obesity prevention, child nutrition, and nutrition education.
Outside of my career, I am a mother of two beautiful children and the eldest of eight siblings. I share this planet, Earth, with over 8 billion other people. Although our passions, values, beliefs, and ideologies may differ, I believe that we, as human beings, are more alike than we are different, and we all deserve the best that this world has to offer. One of my favorite songs as a child was "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing." I always envisioned a world where everyone lives in perfect harmony, and I still believe that is possible. I remain hopeful.
By profession, I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Culinarian and Research Consultant. Areas of interest are nutrition education, holistic health, and sustainable programming focused on eliminating health disparities. As public health leaders, I believe we must focus on the overall health of unserved/underserved communities, including access to nutritious foods, quality education, adequate housing, employment opportunities, and mental health services. No community can thrive without access to resources and opportunities. With this in mind, I created Mississippi Thriving, a social media platform that informs Mississippians about essential resources available through state, local, and nonprofit organizations. It is my way of contributing to the success of my community. What are you doing to help your community?
